This graph shows how much the China Democracy Foundation received by October 30, 2020, expressed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD), for Anne-Marie Brady’s legal defense: $19,553 of $20,000 NZD from New Zealand, Canada, Britain, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Japan, and the US since we started on October 18. We achieved our goal of funding Anne-Marie’s legal expenses, and helping her defend herself against a university investigation.

From a donor who asked that his last name and class details be anonymized for fear of retaliation against his “Uni friends in NZ” and family back in China:

“This is just my appreciation to Professor Annie Marie, as a student who used to study her [redacted] Chinese politics course at UC in [redacted]. I have read the two papers she wrote in [the] last three years about China’s foreign policy targeting the South Pacific region. I think she said the right thing about the world and she shouldn’t suffer all those unfair harassments and criticism for doing the right thing. I hope she’ll be fine and get out from the troubles soon.” - Miles

From Anne-Marie’s biggest donor so far, who also asked to remain anonymous:

“It’s the least i can do; NZ born HK raised - i’ve lost my city this year - i know what’s at stake; Ms Brady is a New Zealand Hero - Thank you all for fighting the good fight!”
